Biography

Mary Louden is the Head of Estate Planning at Herbie Legal, based in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. She has spent more than 15 years helping individuals and families build estate plans that carry their financial plans forward and protect the people they love.

Before joining Herbie, Mary was the Director of Estate Planning at Brighton Jones, a national wealth management firm with more than 4,000 clients and over $30 billion in assets under advisement, where she worked for nearly a decade. Mary led estate planning for clients across nine markets, from Seattle and Silicon Valley to Los Angeles, Houston, Austin and Dallas. She worked side by side with advisors, tax professionals and trust officers to turn each family's financial plan into the legal structures that carry it forward. That experience gives her an insider's understanding of how advisory firms work, and of what advisors and their clients need from an estate planning attorney.

Before entering the RIA space, Mary practiced at K&L Gates, one of the largest law firms in the world, where she was a Private Clients, Trusts and Estates attorney in the Seattle office. Earlier, she practiced estate planning in the San Francisco Bay Area and began her career in Lubbock, Texas. Her practice has spanned Texas, California and Washington, all community property states, and she brings particular depth to planning around separate and community property.

A former Division 1 track and field athlete, Mary lives in Fort Worth with her husband and three sons.
